LPG GasJust few days back the Union Government has amended the LPG gas control Order. Now the rule would be one family means both spouse and children male an unmarried daughters. The family is entitled to have only one gas connection and remaining connections are to be surrendered. Government has no concern as to whether one’s children have separate unit of family or not. Though one’s son may be leaving separately he is not entitled to have separate connection. If husband and wife in normal course and without any family dispute living separately even then they are not entitled to have separate connection.
Such rule will create huge problems among the citizens and disintegration of joint family setup but political parties have least interest to oppose.
It is said that since the government provides subsidy on LPG therefore it is a costly business for it to allow such system of more than one gas connection. It is also argued that those who are not having any connection may be provided so that few may be benefited. The purpose will not be served. The gas connection is not a real estate, gold, silver, diamond, jwellary or any property or valuable. It is basic necessary and need and people use with frugality.
In this respect I had written in my blog dated 19th May .I found that the readers did not take it seriously and there were only few readers to read the said article. I may not say that my approach may be correct and it may be debatable but ignoring such important issue reflects that people do not bother for any thing that may happen. Thus as a whole the general public is also least interested to have their rights protected and redressed. Really, even after liberation we are living in the age of slavery and ready to accept what the ruler is giving and not able to assert. Thus I may be compailed to think and say that it is casting pearls before swines.
In fact there is no need for any subsidy to any one including the so-called poors. Thouse who have capacity to have LPG gas connection have also capacity to pay for gas cylinder also. Perhaps it is the cheapest source of domestic fuel and people should pay for it. There is no other alternative fuel that can be used by general public. The government should stop the appeasing policy and be firm and honest in its dealing. Let people may not have to suffer for the huge corruption of the government. Waiving of agriculture loans of 711 crorers, swallowing of 60000 crorers rupees through spectrum 2 scheme and 500 crores’s corruption by the then Chief Minister of Jharkhand are glaring examples to be noted. Remember that the so-called poor agriculturalists that get the benefit of waiver of loans are M.Ps. from Andhra Pradesh. No election is fought out without a person has crorers of rupees to spend.
The article written on 19th May 2008 was thus: -
The petroleum companies have written to the government that the supply of domestic gas to the consumers is regulated and only one cylinder per month to each family is provided. Thus there will be ration on it. The peculiarity of Congress is quota, permit and license Raj. Whenever and for whatever period the Congress remains in power it is sure that there is hike in prices, there is inflation and lack of consumable good available to the public. The food and civic supply department is so corrupt that it never takes drastic action against those who uses domestic cylinders for commercial use instead of using commercial cylinders. A commoner can see such breach but the personnel of the department are absolutely blind in this regard. They do not do a regular checking work and their usual work is roaming here and there.
During NDA government the supply of LPG was absolutely easy and there was no restriction on LPG gas connections also. It is said that the petroleum companies have to bear an extra cost of Rest. 306 per cylinder as the government have not permitted to have the actual cost of the cylinder to be charged from the consumers. No doubt is in affix over the inflation and is help less as the things have gone beyond its control though both the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister are surprisingly international fame economists! They are just promising the public that things will be easy. The so-called leaders of the Congress Sonia and Rahul are mum on the subject and are not able to counter the allegations of the political parties and cannot deny the realities. The companies or the leaders are not able to show in case of non supply of sufficient LPG gas what will be the alternate source of energy for the public as electricity, kerosene, fuel wood, coal and cock coal is also not available to the public.
If there is no other alternative then the government should take the public in confidence and say that the constraint of the government is to reduce the subsidy and increase the price of LPG cylinders Say the publicly that the government cannot provide alternative energy source for domestic work. Do what ever is needed but do not keep the public in dilemma over the subject.
Even if the subsidy is reduced to zero rupee the cost of one cylinder will be Rs.633or so. But if there is non-supply of LPG gas the consumer will have to spend more than that much of amount. In addition the facilities of LPG gas cannot be equated with other energy services though they may be costlier. . The opposite parties and members from the UPA may make hue and cry or may be hypocritical but the realities are as they are.
