View Full Version : Arjun Singh - A Brightly Notorious Pm Wannabe
hindustan 27th July 2006, 02:05 AM Arjun Singh born November 5, 1930, Madhya Pradesh, is a veteran Congress (I) politician. Part of Indira Gandhi's oligarchy he is not only corrupt, evil but unfortunate not for him but for public, for whom he has been proved to be unlucky in every single respect. He has absolutely NO service to state or nation in anyway. His only credit is being born in an established family and rising to top without effort. He is one of the biggest suckers of India, a shameless politicians who should be sittting at home but even at 76 he is engaged in destroying India with his insatiable greed and lust for power.
Any of his achievements that have benefitted anyone? None! His greatest contribution to India will be that he must get out of politics and sit at home watch tv.
He is the Human Resources and Development (HRD) minister in the current Indian government headed by Manmohan Singh, the same post that he held in the early 1990s in the Narasimha Rao government. He served as a minister in the Rajiv Gandhi government, and held the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Governor of Punjab. He was awarded the Outstanding Parliamentarian Award for the year 2000.
Controversies
Arjun Singh was accused of corruption in what was called by some the Churhat Lottery case in the 1980s, in which allegations, never proved, were levelled that he had helped set up a phony state lottery.
Arjun Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh when the Bhopal gas leak occurred in 1984. There have been allegations since that the state administration did not do enough for the victims of the fatal gas leak/
After the Mumbai train bombings of 2006, he reportedly quoted at a Cabinet meeting the statements of a former judge of the Maharashtra High Court that an earlier attempt on the headequarters of the Hindu revivalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nasik had been a plot set into motion by the Sangh itself.
Reservation Controversy
Additional controversy was created in 2005 by drafting the proposed 104th Amendment Bill to the constitution, which subsequently became the 93rd Amendment. According to this amendment, which has yet to pass the 'Basic Structure' test of constitutionality by the Supreme Court, all private unaided educational institutes could be asked by their State Governments to reserve seats for designated Other Backward Classes. In early 2006, Mr. Singh also sought to increase caste-based reservation quotas for the so-called Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the internationally reputed Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management, along with other Indian central government run institutes of higher studies, from 22.5% to 49.5%, a measure which came under intense criticism by the press and by the anti-reservation student community.
The National Knowledge Commission, a body of academics and intellectuals who report directly to the Prime Minister on matters of educational policy, strongly opposed the move. Following a public statement by Singh questioning the Commission's members' knowledge of the Constitution, the NKC also strongly criticised him for what it described as his efforts to "obfuscate" the issue.
Arjun Singh plans to impose quotas not just in 32 Central institutions, but also in over 100 deemed universities. The proposed legislation will give the Government unprecedented power over even private unaided institutions - to regulate their fees, selection procedure, and also take punitive action.

Be sure he will be shunted as Governor of some small state and his mouth will be shunted. Don't bother.May be the fate of Shila Dixit the C.M. of Delhi. One post would go in the pocket of Mayawati. Let us enjoy. [purushottam]
gumnaam 7th August 2007, 11:43 PM Police in Moradabad registered a case under the Anti-Dowry Act against Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh, his wife Beena Singh, son Abhimanyu Singh and grandson Abhijeet Singh.

What is wonder in it. It is not Arjunsingh ,any one from Congress would be,and now from any party any politition would be.
purushottam 14th April 2008, 01:25 PM :rolleyes:Does politicians have any shame. In fact the answer should be had they any shame they would not have been politicians. The only aim of Arjun sing was to creat 27 percent reservation to OBC.But the dream was broken. How ever he does not feel sorry and dare to say that he will see how it can be implemented. During 19962002 he had for some time resigned Congress party. [I may be wrong] But during the regime of Indira Gandhi he had told that he was ready to sacrifice his life if Indira had shown intention to wear slippers of his skin.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
What a nice flattery to remain in power.
Now he is saying that it is Rahul Gandhi who is competent to be Prime Minister of India. Another six er of flattery by him. The politicians are only shoe lickers to make them self survived under some popular leader of ones choice. Indian know only to live on crumbs and bits only thrown by others . They do not know hoe to 'earn' by tilling land. Such flatters should be forthwith removed from the party.
purushottam 15th April 2008, 09:12 PM :rolleyes:The Congress spokesman M/S Natarajan has given a very very nice blow on the faces of Arjun sing and Prank Mukherjee by saying that the post of P.M. is not vacant and no one should aspire for it and no need to recommend any one. Both of them said that Rahul has all qualities to become PM> Let both explain how and what qualities are in him to be PM of India? Explain first. Do not be shoe licks and flatterers. One may get crumbs and bits like dog to eat and if the dog it pet he is allowed to sit in the drawing room but he cannot be equated with the human family member. This should be remembered by them. very nicely she has kicked them both. She has cut both them to size. Shameless persons.
purushottam 15th April 2008, 09:22 PM :I do not know what is the constraint with Congress that it is not kicking him out of the power. Make him absolutely retired and send him to his home town. He has showed down the Congress on the question of OBC issue. The SC has not given a blanket cheque to him on this issue. On the date of judgment his face was faded with fear and nervousness. Such persons should be removed from power and should only be nominal members of party.
purushottam 21st April 2008, 07:01 PM :rolleyes:After reservation to SC and ST the government has finally decided to implement 27 percent reservation to OBC. In few states there will be reservation to Muslims also. In addition there are other categories for which reservation is given from the general quota. Thus after applying horizontal and vertical reservation there will hardly be 30 to 40 percent seats left for general class.
In India for such general class there will be no other go except to get jobs in foreign countries. There the employers require English translation of all documents like birth certificate, certificates relating to educational qualifications, marriage certificates and so many other certificates. Therefore the government should make it mandatory by issuing a general circular that the persons of general class should be given desired certificates only in English so that they may not face problem in getting there jobs in foreign countries. Hope the governments shall take the suggestion in right perspective.
purushottam 28th April 2008, 10:59 AM :rolleyes:What he thinks that he will be remembered like Baba Saheb by OBC. Every one is free to have a day dream:rolleyes:

Relative truth by Arjun Singh
Really speaking truth is not absolute truth or full proof truth it is just relative truth according to circumstances and point of view of person affected there by. In this respect following is the extract from a site that I am reproducing with expressing gratitude. Please read the same and then evaluate the statement of Arjun Singh delivered at the time of his autobiography.
‘In general, on the simple account, truth - unlike beauty, in some people's view - does not lie in the eye of the beholder. Nor does it lie in the beliefs of a believer, or in whether or not we know what the facts are. Believing something to be true does not make it true, for beliefs themselves can be false as well as true.
Most people, unless their thinking has been influenced by bad philosophy, will readily accept this simple notion of truth. Einstein was one of them. He believed in the existence of what he called "objective reality": a real world that exists independently of our subjective perceptions, conceptions, or beliefs. He believed that a statement is true if and only if objective reality is as that statement says it is.'
All said and done Arjun Sing is a person of his own qualities and trait. He has some inborn qualities also. When he was not in power but when he used to go somewhere few persons used to attend him and he did not forget those persons when he came to power and remembered the obligations. It is his one of the greatest quality.
My humble opinion is that Bush and condeless Rice rightly said that Indians are voracious. We did not take in right perspective and the things could not be digested. Few had decently and few vomited the statement. Like wise autobiographies written by politicians are not taken at par and are not replied by writing some new views about the subject. We have habit of making every thing as commodity of fish Bazaar and to ridicule the subject.
I simply ask what wrong Arjun Sing said? He said there is no internal democracy in the Congress. He further added that Nehru and Indira had great ability to recognize loyal people and could differentiate between real loyalty and fake loyalty. Other stalwarts like Dhawan, vayalar Ravi alleged his remarks as colourful one. The PM said he is senior leader and we respect him. Thus to read between the lines the PM said such leader should and ought not to have spoken. During the course of release of his autobiography Arjun Sing did not take notice of Rahul, Sonia and Rajeev Gandhi. Dhawan fallen in to bit of disarray and said it was unfortunate. Does Davan wants to indicate that when one speaks of Congress names of all Dynastic persons should be uttered as when we read Ramayana we do speak of Ram, Laxman, Bharat, Shatrughna and Sita. But some times instead of taking names of these great persons we also take name of Kaikai! What is wrong in it?
Last day there was a function in which Arjun Sing and Sonia were also present but did not speak. This was immediate reaction of showing to Arjun sing that his stature in the party is too low and is midge person. What was there to make hue and cry over the statement of Arjun Singh? A month back Rachel Gandhi himself said that there is lack of internal democracy in the party. That time every Congresse was silent but the moment Arjun spoke every body said that there is democracy in the party. Thus according to these Congresses Rahul was wrong in saying that there is no internal democracy! Is it so? No, in Congress school either Head Master speaks or would be Head Master speaks and all have to obey. This is the internal democracy. What Arjun Singh has to remember is to understand his dwarf ness in the party. The party is a drove of sycophants, shoe lickers, flatterers and toadeaters too. What Arjun Singh said was small wit, but with great brag!
One should not wonder if in a shining Moonlight he might say good-bye to Congress and join Mayavati’s party. True that Arjun Singh is not quite reach enough to represent poor and backward class of persons like Mayavati but his representation in her party will have meaning and in future again he may be made Minister in the auspices of the would be Prime Minister Mayavati. This time those who would not get ticket from different parties are sure to join Mayavati’s party. Have stake of luck! Good luck too.
purushottam 12th May 2008, 11:36 AM
Dear Arjun Sing, I have sympathy for you not because you had to eat pies and your words. Don’t think that I pity you with ulterior motive. What I feel bad that you have to show regrets to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and her family. Very humiliating position not only to you but also to Indians that we have to be loyal to dynasty. This is most disgraceful thing for a person who has crossed more than 70 years of age. But this is because one wishes that he and his family should also remain in power. The congress is more than 125 years old institute but during Nehru regime it had become pocket edition and yet it is so. Certainly it is not in the interest of the nation. Congresses cannot have their own meals in party on dying table but have to live on crumbs and bits thrown to him. You have not strengthened the democracy. I fail to know why you should have regretted. A man with self respect and self esteem would have come out of the golden cage and would have entered in the open sky for the remaining life but your son is also in the run for power!
Ignorant 12th May 2008, 10:49 PM Purushottam do not waste your time on this rascal called Arjun singh. He is the icon of the ugly and corrupt Indian and he will be spitted in future for his impotency and corrupt acts.
gumnaam 12th May 2008, 11:42 PM Agreed that Arjun Singh has no future but what he has done by this reservation policy is to spoil the future of next young generation Indians. These reservations do nothing but just help add more fuel to the divisonal mindset in the social fabric.
The only reservation should have been on economic critreria. People like Arjun Singh would be gone but they are making sure that India never comes out of this caste business even in the next 100 years.
purushottam 13th May 2008, 12:36 PM :rolleyes:Thanks gumnaam and ignorant. You both are right. He and leaders like him have spoiled the nation. though he is burden but cannot be removed as outside party he may damage more. The immediate threat is general elections. Therefore he will certainly be shunted as governor because there are about 5 posts which are likely to be filled two of them are Maharashtra and the other is Himachal Pradesh. His ouster is sure. He should be sent as High Commissioner ,Myanmar or Nepal. How you find?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
eagle 1st June 2008, 05:20 PM if he is a criminal why is he even allowed any where near the government or any other post?
when you look at this kind of thing, you begin to realise why some countries are secretly greatful for their own leaders who would not tolerate bleeding heartism, and they most look on in disgust and pity st the indians who crawl and kiss the feet of worthless "leaders", those who would be considered "decent" would react this way, those who are trash would just take the piss out of india and are greatful for the "western decadence" that has brought them such things as clean water, electricity and the many other such things, but has kept this kind of groveling away from them.
pity is the word that comes to mind when thinking about india, you need nationalism and you need racism that makes people think they are better and deserve better than they have, other wise stick to ghandhis bullshit and his bleedingheart and turning of the othr cheek, but remember, when you turn the other cheek, they will most likely slap that as well, what will you do then, turn back to the first that was slapped and then they slap that one, where do you go from there? with this kind of thinking having lead to what india is today, it almost makes you beleive in what someleader from the 20th century once said,"life never forgives weakness", and it has not done india or its people any favours. this person you are referringto should be dealt with, by removal to prison if he is a criminal or eleimination, you have no choice, this will and can, get a lot worse if you do not deal with it now.
purushottam 6th June 2008, 08:22 PM :rolleyes:He was to be shunted as Governor of Maharashtra but it is said that since the elections are approaching his services are required for the election strategy:rolleyes:
